I am currently a PhD student in the Department of Political Science at the University of California, Los Angeles. I received my master’s degree at Harvard University where I was also an affiliate with the Center for American Political Studies (CAPS). Inspired by twenty years of professional experience in media production, my recent research focuses on media effects in American politics. My previous master’s thesis experiment tested the impact of adding emotive music and graphics to video news coverage of homelessness to support a theory of subordinate frames. I presented this research at the American Political Science Association conference in 2023.
I am broadly interested in affective polarization, American popular support for democratic norms, and the ways new media contributes to these phenomena.
